Are you an Optimist – Part II?

Tuesday, January 21st, 2014

Are you an Optimist – Part IIIn the previous article, we discussed a few points on developing a positive mindset. Here is a few more adding to the list:

  • Learn from Past Experiences: Taking lessons in a classroom is always different from actually experiencing things in real. In school, we learn the lesson before taking the exam. In real life, we take the exam first and then learn the lesson. Therefore, in real life the test is our experiences. If we fail in the test then it means that we did not have a good experience. In such cases, we examine the scenario first and learn the lesson. And, this helps us to avoid committing the same mistake again and again.
  • Detach yourself from the outcome: Every day cannot be a good day for us in life. Some days are happy times where as some will be sad. A lot of time, we have to face situations that take place against our will. Life is all about facing unexpected situations! So, ensure to put in your best in every situation but do not be upset if things do not happen in accordance to our choices. Do not be too much attached on attaining desired results, as it will lead to disappointment and upset your mood. At times, you got to value the journey and not the results!
  • Plan a list of goals and actions: Set the goals you wish to accomplish in life and map a plan to achieve them. When you are quite focused about what you wish to do and carry out things accordingly then a stronger will power will help to support your actions and even your attitude for results.
  • Focus on important things: Stay focused irrespective of any situation that you might have to undergo. In fact visualize fulfilling your goals. Develop a strategy for dealing with your obstacles and problems. Prioritize your goals! Focus on important things that need to be auctioned first. Also, take out some time for your relaxation and fun as this will keep your spirits high and give you better chances of attaining success.
  • Associate with Positive People: The presence of good people around you is very important. Always ensure to be around optimistic people as they will always help you to build your self – esteem and confidence.
  • Take New Challenges: Every day is a new day of learning. So do not restrict your life experiences just to your normal and regular schedule. Take risks and accept new challenges in life. Also, be open to accept everything. You may not know everything in life, so at times you got to listen to others as well.
  • Forgive and leave your worries behind: Mistakes and failures are the root causes for everything. If somehow you let go pain, agony and fear that we keep it within ourselves then we can release out a lot of trouble from our lives. So, forgive yourself and others for committing mistakes.
  • Ask for Guidance: Ensure to give a short prayer to god everyday! Have faith in him and he will surely guide you to get the best.

Lace Dresses a Timeless Classic StyleLace dresses are one of the most elegant and history inspired form of fashion. In the ancient days, every history enthusiast who had the basic sewing skills managed to make clothing attractive by simply adding a lace collar or cuffs. Even a plan jumper dress could take on a Victorian feel when paired with a petticoat trimmed with lace at the hem. The birthplaces of lace making are generally recognized in Flanders and Italy. A true lace is created when a thread is looped, twisted and braided with other threads independently forming a backing fabric. Originally, silk, linen, silver and gold threads were being used. As of now lace is made with cotton thread as well. Although, the style may be associated with the ancient times but the vogue for lace still continues in the latest trends and fashions.

Lace dresses look fashionable and affordable sported in a bold range of colours, styles and options. Below mentioned are the top three lace styles.

Lace Wedding Dress: This is one form of dressing that can never fall out of fashion. The lace wedding dress can be stylish as well as traditional. At the same time it can be vintage and sexy too. Lace is one of the timeless fabrics for bridal styles. And, any wedding gown with a bit of lace will lose the elegance that wedding gowns are supposed to have.

Backless Lace Dress: This dress can leave you looking absolutely hot. With so many backless styles available, there are numerous options for women to choose. The most common one being fully backless, styles like showing the nape of the back and smaller cut outs to show a minimal amount of skin. These backless lace dresses can at times prove a little difficult in wearing one, if one is not used to wearing such outfits. Handle Stress Immediately and Calmly

Handle Stress Immediately and CalmlyAll of us have to admit that the best things in life do not remain forever. Good things come and go! Nice situations turn into bad ones. People say stuff, things turn out wrong and you might end up in a terrible situation. And, what is even horrible is that no cares to help you out from it, in fact they enjoy seeing you in the miserable situation. Yes, the truth is that no cares seeing you upset! They might have even caused the situation for you. They see you coming and run for a cover. Well, then how on earth will you escape from it all?

Quit your Negative Thinking

Yes, the first and foremost thing is to quit ranting. Your rant is not helping you at all. I know most people say that venting out is helpful. Well, according to me it is not good unless the situation seriously demands it. And, that too it should be just once. What, I believe is that every moment you spend on ranting and for every ounce of energy you spend on talking, you are missing out moments that you could have spent in a better manner like laughing or spending some good time. Whining and crying, you are not solving any problem but intensifying your stress feelings. So, why not spend that energy in a positive manner and that will even help you out from the problematic situation. Stop ranting about the situation and start solving it. Do not make a bad situation worse. Use the energy for something creative and worthwhile.

Stop Thinking and Start Breathing

By ranting you would have realized, how fast your heart starts beating. You are so much heated up that you cannot even think of doing anything positive. Well, that is ok! All that you need to do is just stop thinking. I know, at time sit is a bit difficult to follow, and you have no option but do it. You will have to stop thinking about the situation. Block your mind from all these thoughts. The best way to do so, is start taking slow cleansing deep breaths. If required, close your eyes. Block that voice from your head. I know those things will still want to come to your mind, but continue breathing. Breathe from your diaphragm and put all your energy and attention in inhaling and exhaling slowly and calmly. If this helps then go to a place where there is silence and closing your eyes and doing it, will help you to gain more calmness in mind. It signals your anxiety levels that everything is fine. And, if you still cannot shut off the negative thoughts then hum a happy tune whilst you breathe. Fill in that space with happiness by interrupting the negative thoughts. Allow your breath to flow freely and put in all your energy in breathing.

Exercise your Positive Muscles

Staying in a positive place does require effort. However, being positive is a choice. There is no requirement of being so worked up and overwhelmed about every situation. Take a decision to be positive, even if you cannot figure out how the situation can be solved. Treat the situation like a challenge in your life and not a punishment. The best way to come out of stress is to focus on positive things. Think of the things that make you happy. What makes a laugh? Think about the funny situation that made you laugh out rolling. Who makes you feel special? Off late, you did something for someone that made the person feel really special about them. Challenge yourself to do things that you are grateful for. See the things that you can notice in front of you that are beautiful and pleasant. Do it while you read this, and see how it works? Are you feeling better? Did you notice any change? The situation would not have changed entirely but yes, you can certainly feel the change. Now, you are in a better mental space and prepared to do something constructive and creative.

A Colourful World For Everyone

Thursday, July 26th, 2012

Colours, they really do make our world don’t they? If you ask me, there is no greater sorrow than not being able to see the wonderful colours that make our world what it is. Just happened to catch an article on a cure for blindness today and it genuinely made me happy. The report talked about how scientists are on the verge of finding a permanent cure for blindness using some sort of new chemical.

Its great to know that scientists are actually trying to help humans rather than creating bombs that can wipe out entire towns. This new breakthrough in the treatment of blindness is thanks to a special chemical which when injected into a defective eye increases sensitivity of nerves thereby helping the person see.

Scientists used the chemical on congenitally blind mice and partially restored their vision. The testing was carried out on mice that were blind by birth. After the mice were injected with the compound, the rodents showed sensitivity to light which is a definite sign of improvement. There is still a long way to go before these chemicals can be used on humans but it’s a start nonetheless.

Scientists call this new wonder chemical AAQ and claims that it is much more effective than electronic chip or gene therapy treatments. The greatest advantage being that the chemical can be customised as per the severity of a patients’ blindness. The dosage can be varied and even used with other medications making it ideal for people of all ages.

The current versions of AAQ chemicals can only activate hyper sensitivity of neurons in the eyes for about a couple of hours but newer improved variants could give patients longer hours of sight. In the future, the chemical composition could be altered to may be make a permanent cure. Let’s keep our fingers crossed and hope that the cure will be ready in the coming few years.
