Try this Delicious and Yummy Dessert- Gateau Ganache

Monday, January 28th, 2013

Desserts are a fantastic option to give that perfect ending to your meal. Eighty in hundred people love to take a bite of these scrumptious delights. Be it the cookies, pies, cakes, ice-creams or any other sugary treats- they are loved. No matter whichever country you belong to, each country has its own unique dessert at offer.

Well amidst all the fab desserts that we have eaten often, here I have got an interesting dessert to share with all.

Ever heard about Gateau Ganache? Here is the recipe, how to prepare this fantastic dish.

  • 6 egg whites (room temperature)
  • 6 oz crushed pecans
  • 1 ½ tsp white vinegar
  • 1 ½ cups sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla

Put the egg whites in a large mixing bowl and let it for an hour, till it reaches the room temperature. Prepare two 8 inch cake pans in this manner: Cut two rounds of parchment paper so that it fits into the bottom of the pans. Grease and flour the cake pans, cover it with rounds of paper and grease and flour them.

Beat the egg whites till it is stiff and add the sugar and nuts to it at once and mix it gently with a metal spoon. Ahead to this, add vanilla and vinegar and mix it gently with a spoon pouring it in the prepared pans. Put it in the preheated oven and bake it for 35-40 minutes. Keep two wire cracks ready, so that as soon as the meringues are done, you will have to run a knife around the edges, cover it with the racks and turn it over so the meringues rest on the racks. Get the tins removed and peel of the parchment paper.

Now the icing part! To prepare the filling and icing, ingredients required:

3 ounces semi-sweet chocolate

2tbsp sugar

½ pint whipping cream

Melt the chocolate in a double broiler or in a small bowl over hot water. During the cooling process, whip the cream and the sugar till gets stiff. Put half of the cream in a separate bowl and add half of the chocolate to it. Mix it gently! Place one meringue round on a serving plate and cover it with chocolate mixture. Top with the second meringue and cover it with the remaining cream. With the help of a spatula, dip into the chocolate and make swirls on the whipped cream so that it has a marbled effect. You can even grate a little chocolate over that and then keep it in the Refrigerator till it is ready to be served. And, finally the unique and delicious recipe is ready to serve.

If you have a sweet tooth, must try this & you will love it!

Sweetest Job in All of Britain

Wednesday, April 18th, 2012

This is about a lady who has the sweetest job in all of Britain, literally. Meet Sue Stone the sweet tooth product group development manager at Thorntons. This lucky lady is in charge of finding out new tastes and concepts to inspire new range of chocolates for Thorntons. The job profile, you eat chocolates day in and day out, and then get paid for it in the end. Well, there is a lot more to the job that just eating chocolates but that’s her main responsibility. Everyone wants a job that they enjoy but this lady has stolen the show.

I certainly don’t have a job that I enjoy but would love to apply for something on the same lines. Think about what you could put on your resume; excellent sense of smell, keen knack for finding what’s sweeter, willing to eat all day long and open to travel. I really envy Sue and if I’m not mistaken every chocolate lover in Britain would be thinking the same. She says that the look when people give her when they ask what she does for a living is priceless. It would be Sue, after all how many people in Britain do something this cool for a living?

Sue says that she eats thousands of calories in a day but we can find that she is nowhere near being overweight. So now you are wondering after eating all of this how come she doesn’t get fat? The answer to that one is that while we munch down on chocolate watching rented movies and sleeping, this lady walks a lot. Sometimes even many miles in a single day walking around huge Thorntons factories. She even carries around chocolate stacks up and down the stairs which she says is what keeps her in shape even at this age. Her dream job hasn’t come easy. She started off at Thorntons in 1980s and inched her way up the company ladder to be where she is today. A lesson for all you people out there working in the food industry, check if your company has such a position and if they do, don’t leave till they pay you to eat!
