Stop Animal Abuse

Stop Animal AbuseCruelty towards animals has prevailed from a long time. One reason for this long time existence of animal abuse is no strict laws to protect animals and strict penalties for animal abusers. However, the emergence of internet has educated many around the world regarding the abusive practices towards animals. Therefore, now we have numerous options to come ahead and stop this menace happening on earth.

Every year, millions of animals are injected with chemicals, poisoned, strangled, buried alive, run down by horrible machines and buried alive. It is really sad to know that, things like this are happening with animals. We have not created animals and nor are we sharing our breath with them, therefore we have no right to take away their lives.

The global leather industry slaughters more than a billion animals every year to use their skins and hides to make products like belts, shoes, bags and jackets. These animals have to undergo the horrors of factory farming like castration, dehorning, branding, extreme crowding, tail docking and also cruel treated during transport and slaughter.

With the decline in production of dairy cows their skin is used for making leather. Also, hides of calves are used for making veal and high-priced calfskin.

Leather produced in U.S. mostly comes from the skin of cattle and calves. However, animals like horses, sheep, goats and pigs are slaughtered for meat and also their skin are used for leather. The other species hunted frequently for their skins are zebras, wild buffalos, kangaroos, sharks, dolphins, seals, elephants, crocodiles, sharks and a lot more.

Millions of Kangaroos are slaughtered every year as their skins are considered to be the prime material for soccer shoes. Snakes are skinned alive with the belief that live flaying makes leather supple. Other exotic animals like alligators are factory farmed for their skin and meat. Alligators can live up to 60 years but farmed alligators are butchered before the age of 2 i.e. as soon as they are 4 to 6 feet in length. They are beaten to death in farms with hammers. In fact, in their unconscious state they itself they are skinned. Alongside, with the use of leather, a lot many animals are harmed in a day to day basis. Not only by animal skin, but animals are tortured through various ways. In circuses animals are tortured to play and perform in front of the audience. On streets also, we see animals are being beaten up. In zoos, too animals have to stay as though an imprisonment to life.

What can we do?

To avoid animals from being slaughtered, we can use alternatives to leather that include products like cotton, rubber, canvas and synthetics. Avoid buying things coats made of fur. Do not buy products tested on animals. In fact, you can even a drop a note in the company stating that you will not buy products tested on animals and share the information with the other customers too. When enough people do this, automatically they will get a drop in sales. Stop visiting zoos and circuses and also discourage others from doing so. This can create a bigger impact gradually. By starting off with these little things, we can make a huge difference in the lives of animals that suffer in the hands of humans. Also, there are laws created for the welfare of animals, therefore if you see anyone violating these laws, you can go on to take legal action against them.

The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated. Therefore, save the planet!
